About Hillary Paul

Hillary Paul is an Anishnaabekwe from Biigtigong Nishnaabeg with a career grounded in Indigenous relations, public service, community development, and advocacy. Her professional experience includes working within the Government of Canada, where she has contributed to initiatives supporting Indigenous communities and has developed a strong understanding of government programs, policy, partnerships, and the systems that impact First Nations people and communities.

Hillary has also had the opportunity to engage internationally through her experience with the United Nations, bringing an Indigenous perspective to broader conversations on Indigenous rights, self-determination, community well-being, and reconciliation. This experience strengthened her understanding of the importance of ensuring Indigenous voices and lived experiences are represented in national and international spaces.

Throughout her career, Hillary has been a strong advocate for community connection and relationship building. She has been involved in community initiatives, events, leadership opportunities, and efforts that bring people together and create space for Indigenous voices. Her strengths include public speaking, research, grant writing, strategic relationship building, and working collaboratively with diverse groups to move ideas forward.

For Hillary, professional success is closely connected to the responsibility she feels toward her community. She believes meaningful change begins with relationships, listening, and creating opportunities for people and communities to lead their own way.

Today, Hillary and her family have chosen to live at home in Biigtigong Nishnaabeg, where she works remotely. Being home allows her to remain closely connected to her community, culture, family, and the people and places that have shaped her. It also gives her husband, their almost-teenaged son, and herself the opportunity to experience the strength, belonging, and connections that come from being part of community life. For Hillary, being home is not simply where she lives. It is an important part of who she is and how she chooses to live and work.
